The innovative 4-Play box call made by Brian Benolken of Bangor employs a forward-mounted wheel that allows a turkey hunter to move the paddle back and forth on four different sound rails, creating a wide range of sounds and tones.

As dawn broke on a gorgeous spring morning April 30, Brian Benolken found himself tucked in a ground blind along the edge of a Plainfield Township field. Gazing out the blind’s window at the turkey decoys set up in front of him, Benolken let out a series of yelps from his turkey call.

Named the 4-Play, it’s a handmade box call that he makes in his Bangor-based woodworking shop, and it’s one of the most innovative turkey calls made anywhere in the country.
