Heat Transfer Vinyl, or HTV for short, can be used on certain fabrics and materials to create designs and promotional products. It is often used to decorate or personalize T-shirts, hoodies, jerseys, garments and other fabric items. HTV comes in a roll or sheet form with an adhesive backing so it can be cut, weeded, and placed on a substrate for heat application. When heat pressed with sufficient time, temperature and pressure, the HTV can be permanently transferred to your garment.
One of the tasks that laser cutting machines excel at is the cutting of heat transfer vinyl. The laser is able to cut extremely detailed graphics with great precision, making it ideal for this task. By using a transfer film designed for textile graphics, you can cut and weed detailed graphics and then apply them to the textile using a heat press.
