Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fan Designs DIY Kingdom Hearts Keychain

A cunning designer made a keychain inspired by Sora's Final Smash, Sealing the Keyhole. The key can be temporarily sealed in this wooden replica.

To celebrate Sora's joining Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as the ultimate fighter, a fan designed a wooden keychain that mimics the door summoned by the Kingdom Hearts character in his Final Smash, Sealing the Keyhole. As the last DLC fighter of Smash Bros. Ultimate, Sora is a surprising choice, but he is a strong request to join, and many fans think Sora in Smash is worth the wait.

When Sora activates his Final Smash, he will shoot a beam of light from his keyblade, opening a keyhole-shaped portal. If used properly, players can teleport up to three opponents to this portal and enter the dark realm. A white door with the Smash logo closed the opponent tightly, trapping them inside. Sora fired another beam into the keyhole of the door, and twisted his key blade as if locked the door, thus sealing the keyhole. Sora poses before the door explodes at his opponent. Sora's Final Smash should be used strategically, otherwise players may miss out on eliminating opponents and waste their Smash Ball.

Designer Shavonne showed off her DIY Kingdom Hearts keychain on YouTube. It looks the same as the door model used in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, with the addition of hinges and hooks for placing any keys. Shavonne's design is laser cut on 0.13 inch (or 3.302 mm) thin birch plywood. The wood must be very thin because the design has an arched frame. This will also help the components to be put together. Shavonne shares her DIY building in the video below.

In this short tutorial, Shavonne explains her laser cutting design, which is available for free on her Gumroad page. Each piece is placed on a thin plywood so that any builder can take them out. Shakespeare made parallel cuts on the part that formed the arch. This "living hinge" makes the wood flexible enough to form any curved structure. She creatively uses skewers to assemble complex hinges. Shavonne uses Gorilla Glue to glue all the parts together. The design features a wooden replica of the keyhole, Smash logo, and Sora's signature key blade.

This is a cute, simple and clean way of key storage, perfect for any cunning fan of Kingdom Hearts and Super Smash Bros. Shavonne is great for anyone who wants to put this DIY project together to use this design. She even recommends an online laser cutting service for those who cannot get online laser cutting services. Fans can only speculate on the direction of the series after Super Smash Bros., but for now, they can celebrate what Masahiro Sakurai has done by making art, role-playing, or other DIY projects (such as Shavonne's keychain) matter.
